To prevent dirt from accumulating in the fabric, you should wipe the canvas with a damp cloth from time to time. You can clean the leather from time to time with a soft brush or a soft, slightly damp cloth. Please do not use hot water when cleaning, as this can attack or dissolve the wax layer of the canvas. Important: Fitz & Huxley backpacks and bags are not suitable for the washing machine.
By applying wax, your Fitz & Huxley is impregnated. This extends its durability and lifespan. Wax your backpack every 6-12 months, depending on how much you use it, to refresh the wax layer on the canvas. Regular impregnation maintains and improves the rain resistance of the canvas.
Simply wipe off the raindrops with a damp cloth and place the backpack or bag in a warm room to dry. Never place your Fitz & Huxley on a heater to dry - this could cause the leather to become brittle.
You can use leather lotions for open-pored natural leather to care for your backpack. However, you should only use these when the leather has lost nutrients and therefore color after prolonged use.

If creases or pressure marks have formed on the canvas, you can simply iron them out. Important: place a piece of paper or fabric between the iron and the backpack to protect the waxed canvas. Moisten the canvas before ironing and set the iron to a medium setting.
It is important not to expose the backpack/bag to extreme light and heat sources such as direct sunlight, as this can cause the color of your backpack/bag to fade.
